landowners.

 

CHMS thrive on implementation of management plans to allow projects to proceed and achieve

biodiversity, thus allowing a biodiversity gain and maintain wildlife value.

 

In order to maintain high standards and increase work load, CHMS require an ecological landscaper. The successful candidate will gain a wide range of experience in a variety of practical conservation/landscape tasks.

 

JOB SUMMARY/MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Job Summary: 

 

Carrying out a wide range of practical skills over varied habitats as follows:

  • Scrub clearance

  • Tree clearance

  • Tree planting & maintenance (Forestry)

  • Ecological mitigation assistance

  • Strimming

  • Weed spraying

  • Bio mass production

 

However, situations may arise that require the employee to perform other duties or tasks, which do not involve ecological works on habitats. This may include general landscape/maintenance works.

 

Main responsibilities

 

The post holder shall:

  • Be responsible for and use under direction, powered hand tools, vehicle, plant and equipment and reporting any defects,

  • Carryout working operations to a high standard,

  • Ensure good working relationships with clients and staff,

  • Undertake any training and development activities any paperwork as required for either work or training based activities,

  • Be accountable for their own development through the Performance and Development Review,

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work,

  • Be available to work additional hrs at short notice;

  • Be available to work weekends and bank holidays.

  • In addition, all employees are expected to work within the terms of their contract of employment and adhere to CHMS policies and the Required Ways of Working.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Knowledge:

 

Have a basic understanding and interest in countryside/ecological management and/or wildlife.

Education to GSCE standard

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Practical aptitude

  • Able to adapt to new situations

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • NPTC Basic chainsaw CS30/CS31 or 201,202,203 (Must be in date)

  • NPTC CS32, CS38, CS39, CS41 & CS46

  • NPTC Strimmers & Brushcutting/clearing saws

  • First aid at work or equivalent

  • Driving licence (Clean)

  • Able to work outdoors

  • Must be physically fit

 

Desirable:

 

Basic chainsaw CS30/CS31or 201, 202,203 (Must be in date)

NPTC CS45

Lanta Strimming/brushcutting

NPTC Safe use of pesticides

Towing

Tractor driving

NVQ Practical Conservation or equivalent

 

Experience:

Team work and with at least 2 years previous experience

At least 12 months proven practical experience (desirable).
